Bumper Plates
A bumper plate is a weightlifting plate that is from rubber and was originally designed for Olympic weight lifting. They are great for women to use to learn the basics of lifting weights from the floor, as in deadlifts. Olympic weightlifting is done on a wooden platform for safety reasons, and the solid rubber material was made to be easier on the wooden floor than the iron Olympic plates.
The rubber bumper plates provide improved protective and noise-suppressing qualities.
The rubber bumper plates will not crack, flake, chip, or rust like the painted cast iron plates. The rubber plates will not dent or scratch expensive equipment and they never need to be painted. The rubber is permanently molded over cast iron plates.
The rubber-encased plates are much easier to grip when you add weights to the bar, and are therefore safer. The bumper plates are great for using at home so you don't have to worry about damaging or denting things in your workout room and they will protect your floors.
You are able to purchase bumper plates at sports equipment stores and from various retailers online.
